Ration books - where can I get one?

Options
Not sure where to ask this but hoping you can help as this thread is my spiritual home!!!

I took my lovely grandson round the Stockport air raid shelters which are fascinating - he's recently done about WW2 at school. He got a lot out of it.

On the way out I saw him speaking with the assistant in the little shop there, he's very quiet and didn't involve me, but he was asking if they had any reproduction ration books. She had a look but said they had sold out. He was ready to spend his pocket money on one.

With his birthday coming up I'd love to buy him a real one but don't know where to look. There are a few on ebay, they're not very expensive, but I'd rather look at it before buying, also I don't have a payplan account so would rather buy in a shop or from somewhere I can rely on - I've heard so many dodgy stories about ebay and it seems very complicated.

Where should I look? An ordinary antique shop? Are there specialist outlets for this kind of thing? Can anyone recommend a source?

Many thanks.

Thanks ff. Yes there are quite a few on ebay, also I don't want reproduction, I'd like the real thing. None is very expensive. Thanks for looking for me.

There is a museum in our town (Leicester) not sure where you are, but if you are local its Abbey Pumping Station. They sell reproduction things. I know you did say a real one, but thought I would mention it as others have said Museums as well. :)

Thanks everyone for taking the time to look. Yes there are lots of reproduction ones around but I really wanted an original one. I may end up biting the bullet with ebay as that seems to be the only online place with them.

Will scour a few local antiques shops over the next few days and see if they can help.

    Thanks again.
