Fridge

Does anybody know of anywhere I can buy a really cheap fridge. I've tried freecycle before anyone suggests that!!!
I've looked online and the prices are starting at about 80 quid!!!!
Any ideas most appreciated :)

You might get lucky on Comet Clearance. A link to it is on the Comet site.
  • What about Loot? You can access it online and search for items close to you. Ebay as well - use the search facility to select items within 5 or 10 miles of your home address.

    Hi Amanda,

I would second JazzyB's suggestion above - I have recently bought a couple of clearance fridges from Comet - you basically bid for them auction style. Do check the condition carefully before bidding though - some just have scratches or dents otherwise you might be lucky and find one that is just out of its packaging. Remember to take into the equation the delivery charge which will be around £25 to £30.

I picked up one recently for £32 plus £29.95 delivery which was around £40-£50 off the shop price.

They also do other electricals, quite good for washing machines but you need to be choosy as many come without transit bolts so could take a battering whilst being delivered.

    Good luck with your purchase.

    Hi,
Sorry, I forgot to say you could also try LX Direct who usually have some good prices - I'm not sure if you can order from them via Quidco, if so that could save you a little more.

In Liverpool we have a shop called Revive, the council collects the appliances people are getting shut of, and refurbish them , if they can be, they are refurbished by apprentices/unemployed people and are sold on to the public very reasonably, well under £100 and have a three month guarantee, I bought a chest freezer from there 10 years ago and as far as I know (I gave to my ex) it's still going. The items cost less if you are on benefits too. They reupholstery couches and sell furniture too.

    here's the link:

Perhaps you could ask your council if you they have a similar scheme or check with charities, I know Oxfam sometimes have large furniture white good shops.

Perhaps check if you're eligible for the social fund or a crisis loan:

I hope this helps you and you get your fridge soon.

Ad-trader or Loot would be my first port of call, there are usually ones in there starting at about £20, I got one a while back and it was in excellent condition, the people had just got a fitted kitchen so didnt need it.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
