Until I declare myself bankrupt. I've changed banks to co-op (did this before the update on the cashminder account); filled in my SOA and Petition in triplicate; completed my fee exemption form and have my wtc documents for that part and have the £525 in cash ready; have swapped the utilities into OH's name (he has no debt, my debt all pre-dates our relationship); have checked the secured mortgage is up-to-date (there is neg equity of at least £5,000 so hoping we will be able to buy back the BI); and have read these forums top to bottom for help ;-)
Have I missed anything? I really have no choice but BR (my accountant has confirmed this is the best option), however I'm still really worried about the effect it is going to have on me.

Hi and welcome:)
You seem to have it pretty much covered.
The only thing I would have done is seek advice from one of the free debt charities too, although a qualified accountant would suffice.
Good luck, if you have any specific questions then ask, everyone here has either gone through the process or are going through it.:)BSC Member 3510 -
Thanks Mazman

It has pretty much been an inevitable for the last three years that this would happen, but I have fought it along the way and tried to clear my debts only to realise I will still be here in 15 years time and I can no longer cope with the pressure of constant "fire-fighting". Hopefully I am ready for a fresh start after an awful year including the death of our child and this is the first step along the way to a better future.0 -
Sorry for your loss, like you said this will be a fresh start. Keep us informed of how it goes:)BSC Member 3510

Agree with MM, think you have all the bases covered, the relief is tangible after going BR, you can count the weeks easily to the 3 year end of it if you have and IPA, just make sure EVERYTHING is on your SOA, there are advice guides as to what you can put down as expenses for everything.
Good luck!
every time I manage to get one more breath into this body, I will sing a song of thanks to you my brothers, my sisters, my friends, may your sleep be peaceful, and angels sing sweetly in your ears.0 -
Thanks Tigger

Have completed the income/outgoing part of the SOA and we have -cash each month apparently! I guess it is the addition of haircuts etc on there, which in reality we would only have when we had the cash and the £250-300 they say to put for 2 people for food will in reality be whatever we have left at the end of the month which will be about £150-200max.0 -
Another last minute panic - this time about my bank account. I have set up my cashminder and now all income/expenses go through it (operative about a month). On the day I got BR I get paid so it will have all the money for the month in it which will cover the mortgage/council tax and the WTC is to OHs account and that covers other bills and food/household. Our income is just enough at the moment for the bills we have so no surplus income comes into my account or OHs (who isn't going BR). On the day I go BR will my account get frozen even though it is for day-to-day living and the money needed for bill payments? I understand that the OR won't claim this money from me, but how long will it become inaccessible to me? Do I need to proactively do anything (other than on my SOA I have clearly stated about which account is for my day-to-day living and that I need it to stay open on the two sections where it asks you to list bank accounts and bank cards) On the day I go BR to make sure I keep access to my account? Thanks

Thank you
Hopefully that will be the last panic! 0 -
When the OR phoned my on my BR day she said she will send a letter to the coop to advise they have no interest in the account.
I ended up phoning the bank on the day and told them, just to keep my mind at ease, they just confirmed it would be all fine and they would not freeze it.BSC Member 3510 -
Done! Only there for 30 minutes as DJ didn't need to see me. I'm assuming the examiner for the OR will call at some point today so have my mobile and home phone on loud to make sure I don't miss them. Not got a sense of relief yet, I feel a bit numb.0
