i have never started a thread before but i am at a total loss! i decided all adults in the family would have hampers for xmas this year, brilliant, its working fine so far got lots of lovely girly things, but now i have come to the men! my dh likes reading so thought of a bookworm hamper, but other than the obvious (books) what else can i fill it with? also struggling for my dad, he likes bird watching and golf, but as his eye sight is quickly deteriating im again a little reluctant to induldge in any of his hobbies, as im sure that come xmas day my poor father will be really struggling with his sight.
any ideas, please people, and thankyou in advance

For a book worm hamper you could include:
Books (Obviously
Bookmark
Those clip on book lights for reading in bed.
Cup filled with favourite drink (coffee/tea/hot choc) or alternatively wine and glass
Voucher for book store/amazon etc
Book review magazine?
Something to eat while reading (Chocolate/nuts/crisps etc)
Slippers and a blanket?
Sorry that all Ican think at the minute.
I'm not sure what you could do regarding your father other than a foodie related hamper (Coffee/tea hamper ) or chocolate or a movie night hamper with dvds wine popcorn and the like
Hope this gives you a start.
If you try puitting book hamper into search engine you may come up with something0 -
I find that the hampers I do for the men tend to have a high percentage of toiletries and sweets/biscuits.
I did one last year for my dad with retro sweets and toys. Those foam toy planes, a set of Jacks, playing cards, Tic tac toe etc.
My brother i did one with little gadgets e.g. a binary watch (from ebay), a fart machine (Which i regreted xmas day!), a solar calculator.
My Grandad tend to get minatures of whiskey, nice chocolates and shortbread as i reallyhave no clue what else to get him!
Also Hampers don't have to have atheme if you can't think of one you could just get some random odds and ends and package them nicely.0 -
Maybe some bookends or a bookstand.13 projects in 2013 0/130

Why not focus on making the book reading experience more pleasurable? So some nice tea to drink while reading, some snacks, maybe a book light or new bookmark.
Or maybe some tickets to a book reading or event? Something outside of the box?
Good luck!0 -

the "retro" theme sounds ideal for my dad, so simple yet perfect, thankyou sooo much, off to amazon now to order a few of the films he used to make us watch as kids, that awful tubular bells cd, ooh black jacks he loved those, oh and maybe trivial pursuit we used to play that every christmas when we were all still at home... im on a roll, thankyou so much :TIt's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

thanks for the ideas, i thought about maybe adding a few of his fav nibbles. might by pass the tea/coffee and substitute for beer, reading + beer always sends dh to sleep so i should be in for a few peaceful nights after xmas!!:rotfl:It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
