We all know that stores across the country charge different prices - except Asda who have one price across the board ... but ....
Did you know that Tesco runs/maintains a total of 400 separate price lists for their stores??
That's a lot ....

Actually I didn't know that. Why do they do it? I presume they perceive that certain parts of the country will pay more for certain goods.
But the analysis to get the balance of prices right for each area costs money, as does the admin of getting the right price for each item into the point-of-sale systems. I find it hard to believe it's cost efficient (but then I'm not a retail expert).I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me.
In fact, it was proved to me today. Lots of people on here have been talking about cans of 4p mushy peas. In my store (Northampton), they were 12p.Because it's fun to have money!
£0/£70 August GC
£68.35/£70 July GC
January-June 2019 = £356.94/£4200 -
That's why then the coffee drink I like seems to be priced differently in different stores. Wasn't aware of that. How do they do their price check if the prices differ so much then?0

Some people were also talking about the 4p tins going up to 12p.
Tesco prices can change overnight, as in the case of the mushy peas. People saying how good they were and very cheap at 4p. Then they jump to 12p and some people wondered if Tesco read this forum?0 -

I don't, where diod you get this information?PasturesNew wrote: »Did you know that Tesco runs/maintains a total of 400 separate price lists for their stores??

It is a lot, and I think if it was true people on here would have notice. People post the price of goods at tesco in here all the time, so where are all the people who should be shouting "it's more expensive than that in my local", or the opposite!0 -

They only went up to 12p today! Tesco change prices twice a week, overnight on sunday and overnight on Tuesday. The peas were 4p for weeks, then 3p for last week and then went up to 12p overnight last night. HTH.0 -
I work fo a supermarket and we have different price bandings for different areas and also we have different types of shops....
we have 3 different types of stores
1) that stocks mainly high end products (truely irressitabe, the best etc and very little (if any) value products).
2) a mid range shop - 50/50 high products/value products
3) a value shop - hardly sells any high end products and mainly stocks value stuff.
depends where u live etc i think0 -
Also work for a supermarket, and it operates 6 different price bands. What store a band is in depends on location, customer type, competition and store type etc. The price band will also influence on what products the store sells, premium, regular, value.0

"Tesco has 400 regional sets of price data so each of these variations is collected overnight and price comparisons are accurate to where you live."

So, it's just the Mail saying that, not Tesco.
I wouldn't believe everything in that story.
Makes £600 per day, price guarantee capped at £15 per transaction = 40 shops per day. He/she clearly says he goes to the shop then goes back 3 hours later, you can't do 40 shops per day like that.PasturesNew wrote: »They are .... here .... all the time.
Show me, I'm interested.0
