Midlands wedding photographers

Hi can anyone recommend any wedding photographers in the Midlands area. Were looking for some one a bit more cool than your norm. Budget wise max £1500 that including a copy of the raw images. Thanks

I personally didn't use them for my wedding, but I contacted them and they put me in touch with another photographer as my wedding was only small.

I have since used D-M-S though to do a make over shoot and was really impressed with the quality so that is why I am passing on the info.

Stunning photography, and Olly is a really top guy too!
  • With that budget you shouldn't have too many problems finding a good photographer. The only issue you may face is getting the RAW files.

Many photographers, myself included won't want to part with the RAW's at any price. The reason is that these are in effect the digital negatives and by it's very definition is unprocessed by Photoshop etc.

So you will see the photos as they come out of the camera which is often vastly different to the final product. To give you an example, often when shooting a wedding you will get shots which for whatever reason are under or overexposed. Or perhaps the white balance is off. It's not a big deal with RAW as these can be very easily corrected in Photoshop/Lightroom.

But giving a customer the RAW's, they may think the photographer is rubbish. Worse still, their friends may think the photographer is rubbish.

Lastly the other concern is that with the 'negatives', you can easily reedit the photos. The fact you want the RAW's and know what they are suggests this is your intention. In which case a real professional will be very concerned over how his work may end up looking. Especially if your editing skills are not as good as his. The last thing he/she will want is their hard work looking rubbish/weird and people saying "Oh I'm not using xyz photography. Did you see the mess they made of those photos?"

  • Can highly recommend this lady, she has been featured on Rock and Roll bride a number of times aswell as Whimsical weddings and a few others I can't remember - http://www.haywoodjonesphotography.co.uk/ facebook is - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Haywood-Jones-Photography/177889105585185?ref=ts

One thing I will say though is it is EXTREMELY unlikely you will ever find a good photographer who would be happy and willing to give you the raw photo's. The raw photos are usually SOOC which is not the finished product and no decent photographer would be happy to give you the raw images as it would not reflect their hard work, they charge the price you are looking for for a reason. :)
  • I just wanted to pass on details of a photographer based in Birmingham that i think has very reasonable prices for the work she does. Her name is Nicola Gotts, unsure whether i am allowed to post links but im sure it will be removed if im not. She has a Facebook page, Nicola Gotts Photography so why not take a look at what she does
