Have a 9-5 Job, but have a hobby that now has a small income

in Cutting tax
So my main Job is a 9-5 weekday job. But this year I have managed to get myself where my hobby can pay for itself, with maybe a little cash in my pocket.
How do I go about declaring tax for this? my main employer takes tax and NI for that, but the centre where I am at weekends just pays a cash rate, and transfers cash to my bank account when I submit an invoice. Up until recently I was paying off a debt with the centre because they paid for my intructor rating. But thats all paid off now.
I have quite a distance to travel for it - can I claim back milage? Do I have to work out NI? Ive always been employed and never done a self assessment. So can anypone give me some pointers?

Hello TrickyDicky,
You need to register as having an additional income from self employment with HMRC and you will be required to complete a self assessment tax return whilst you are self employed.
Class 2 and Class 4 NIC's may be payable as a result of your self employment income/profits.Happy to help if required!
