    At every oppertunity try and avoid defaults - mine are only just coming off from 6 years ago and the damage has been terrible. Some are only for a couple of hundred pounds, I thought it was easier to default then pay minimums on low balances that I could afford at a squeeze. I remember loading the key metre in my flat with £1 in coppers to get me through the night with electricity. Bad times I remember so well.
