Plus if you have alcohol (or sometimes even liqueurs !!!!!!)
Liqueurs are alcoholic, so carry the same 18 age restriction as any other alcohol, and the store is legally obliged to verify your age.
If you're referring to Chocolate Liqueurs, then in fact, these too are age restricted - 16 in this case.0 -
Where was there a mention of Tesco in that post?
Sorry Tesco, I must have been making things up! You're right it wasn't stated where it was. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
I can answer this as a shopper and an ex-colleague of a shop. I love these tills. More often than not I get to the checkout in a few seconds. Then I put my stuff through very quickly, even if there is a problem, you don't actually need a colleague to help you. All I do is stand back for a couple of seconds and the till rights itself.
In addition to this I like being able to put any amount of money into the coin slot and not worry about not being able to get change.
As someone who used to work in a supermarket I have to say that I love these tills because I know that a lot of people who work on checkouts do not like it. I know I didn't. I also know they don't want to talk to me so I'd rather have the automated lady chatting.
To me this is one of the best inventions ever.0 -
I love self-checkouts.
Granted, they're not for everyone. I'm a basket shopper and wouldn't dream of taking a trolley through.
There are a few things I don't like:
- How slow and unresponsive the touchscreens are. How many times do I have to press "Finish & pay?"
- The volume. No doubt this is to help those hard of hearing, but some machines are unreasonably loud. I don't appreciate being shouted at by human cashiers, nor electronic ones.
- Non-alcoholic beer. Even when it's completely alcohol-free (0%), it still gets flagged and I have to call an assistant.
One thing I've come to like recently is that at my local there's at least one self-checkout temporarily unable to accept cash (too many Coinstar attempts by others?). Since it seems I'm the only person in my supermarket who has gone completely cashless, I effectively have my own personal checkout.0
