Well, I have just sent off the complaint to Thomas Cook about the first outward flight to Cuba, will wait and see what they have to say. Not hopeful to be honest, but if we had turned round for safety reasons rather than operational reasons I would not be complaining.
To sum it up for anyone that has not read the post, we flew out to Cuba on holiday. The flight out was a awful, we spent 2 1/2 hours on the tarmac waiting for them to fix the hydraulics (they took a part off another plane in the end) then about 5 hours into the flight the pilot came on and said he had some bad news and that we would be landing at Gatwick in about 2 hours!!!! Turned out the plane had developed a fault and they had been told by operations to turn round even though the pilot wanted to go on to Cuba, there was no safety issue and it was not an emergency landing. We were told when we were boarding the next day (again!!!) that apparently it was ANOTHER hydraulics issue, and that we had been on the news (though I can find no evidence of this) because we were tipping hydraulic fluid all over Londong and landed with smoking engines (probably fluid got onto them?). Why they could not just have diverted somewhere closer and fixed it I do not know.
Anyway, the woman in the seat next to me was convinced that was the end, and several people did not turn up for the flight the next day, and some were put off by the fact the fire alarm went off in Gatwick while we were waiting for the flight the next day (and it was a real fire, a small one behind McDonalds!!!).
Hence the complaint to Thomas Cook who then added insult to injury - we had a letter from them on our return, thought it would be an apology but instead it was a £50 voucher because we had no entertainment system on the first flight!!! As if we would EVER fly with them again :eek:
Anyway HC (HappyChappy), I did warn you about our holidays before we went - is that evidence enough?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Dread to think what will happen to poor Cuba after that fiasco just getting there!! :rotfl::rotfl:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Ok.. I wanted to double check on this and I have done using the following number. 0845 300 0627. I challage ANYONE that does not agree with this to first contact the number and ask them the same question.
I bought £40 worth of goods with £3 cash and £37 voucher. If I then managed to buy £8000 worth of goods with cash and vouchers (cash being £1000 and vouchers being £7000) and then was to sell some of the products for £1000 to make up my outlay would I need to provide anything for the tax office.
Man on phone. Checks with someone else.
There is no tax liability, We would not need to know about this.0 -

Oh well as they say 'If you snooze you loose'.
Anyways I've been trying to get my head round the workings of this glitch. I have checked the first few pages which list the items but is there any 'IDIOT guide' as to what you need to do.
Thanks
There is no Idiots guide as such, because it moves very fast, offers change and to get the best out of the glitch you need to know what you are doing. But there is plenty of Idiots (:D apologies 11+ers) guidance, advice, suggestions on past threads, as well as a lot of stuff on how not to do it- we pretty much all have fluffed up here and there.
Have a read of the past threads - put "Elite" or "11+" into the thread search on the Gone but was it any good board to pull them up. Browsing a couple of these will give you the gist and then pop back here and peeps will help with any specific questions.
Hope you have a fair bit of free time - it is addictive0 -
