Didn't someone comment on one of the articles that this has been going on since july 2011??????

Over a year then! How long would we really expect it to go on for? If it lasted 2 years or 3 years or 5 years people would still be blaming others when it ended!

There is a brilliant forum on the old style money saving section called preparing for winter

I often read it and they have some great ideas on winter proofing your house against the cold, stocking up etc.

thoroughly recommend reading it - maybe tonight instead of this thread!

Off to put kids to bed so will look in tomorrow

    Night night

Would it be wrong to insulate the house with cereal boxes :D

No seriously, has anyone actually tried the Alpen bars? Just scoffed an apple & sultana one and it's lush.

As for snow, I reckon this'll be a hard winter as well. I've not had the heating on this much this early for a long time. My patio is currently looking for some koi and the grass just needs an alligator and it can be reclassified officially as a swamp.

Ah that is good to hear Claire. Sounds like things are getting there for you.
I know what you mean about being glued to the TV. The house could fall down and DD will still be glued to the blinking disney channel. She even sings in an american accent now! argh!

Argh blinking Disney channel!! My little one started talking in an american twang! And the older DD wants to move to america as its so awesome!

don't!! my youngest is glued to Disney. I caved in and got them a multi room sub for sky so I don't have to endure it.
Same here re the American lingo....we have trash, a trunk and a windshield on the car, a basement (utility room), and me and my OH are better known as 'you guys'. And he goes to school using the sidewalk:rotfl::rotfl:
  • Got the logs burning in the stove in the lounge, one reason to look forward to cold wet nights :) Had a couple of pints of homebrew last night but staying off it tonight, early start tomorrow.

Just had a APG back for cereals and yes they are still working. Rice pot still working.
    HTH
I also did a Nivea shop and a cleaning shop. Had a major problem at L++ngwell Green as they refused to accept my £25.00 APG. I insisted they call Head Office and they confirmed it could be used. Have to say they were then quite nice and made sure all the cashiers knew what to do. Re the earlier post about the same store double printing receipts whose to say the cashier was not going to enter it themselves and print an APG??
I used a capped £15 voucher there today. The till operator called over a supervisor, she talked loudly so everyone could hear and kept on referring to a 'scam with vouchers' and said she wasn't going to accept the voucher as they were capped at £15, eventhough like I say mine was £15. I asked her to call over the store manager, she said he was in a 'huddle' and put it through this time!. I wouldn't mind so much if I frequently used this store, but I've only been in there about 3 times, and the same superviser had an issue with my apg voucher last week.
