What is a dishpan?

looking thru organised home for ideas I found this suggestion to store kids books. The article makes it sound a great idea but what is a dishpan  .

http://www.organizedhome.com/content-59.html

I have googled:p and I'm still none the wiser.

So can you answer this question for me, so I can save money by not having to ring the Canadian relatives and ask. :D

  • A dishpan is a washing up bowl! Think "dishpan hands" from all that washing up.

    Hope this helps.

i'd say its a washing up bowl...the term "Dishpan hands" refers to dry chapped hands from washing up so I can only assume with that and looking at the description of what to do with the books in the article that this is what they are referring to.
    HTH :D

If you type 'define dishpan' into google, the first definition it comes up with is: "large pan for washing dishes", so I guess it's a washing up bowl or something similar, like a big plastic bucket.

Thanks everyone :j . I'm studying our washing up bowl now wondering whether it would actually work  .
  • I guess they are thinking of a square washing up bowl rather than a round one! I keep my grandson's books in a square basket, or you could use a square plastic storage box.
