The other thing is that even if it considered your case, you might be rejected under a clause which could state that it wouldn't cover you if you were unemployed at the time (check the policy wording).

I think you can just schedule a meeting with them and then discuss about repayment plan without the addition of unnecessary charges or the debt being passed on to a debt collection agency.
Usually they agree to discuss about solution because it's win-win situation.

you can request a copy of all the correspondence on the banks system. Normally you need to request this in writting and normally there is a fee for this. With regards to the mis-selling of the insurance, I would seek advice form the financial ombudsman. I hope this helps

They have already refunded the OP's Insurance premium.
