Dreaded Teflon coating on school trousers!

It appears that my son is allergic to the Teflon coating on his new school trousers. He's only just started school which is why I didn't know this before.
His trousers from Matalan fit him really lovely so I'm happy with them apart from the allergy.
Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of the coating? I did read online that washing lots of times in fabric conditioner might work, but I don't know how many times I'm expected to wash them before the coating goes!
Any help greatly appreciated.
