Hi all
From 2009 till april 2012 i was self employed. Since then i have been supported my my family and i was trying to set up as a mobile car valeter. Last week my parents told me i have to sign on because i wasnt getting enough cars to do and they were finding it difficult to pay for me. So i filled in a jsa claim online tuesday and i put i am not in work and i am looking for work. I got my appointment for this monday but they have sent me to solihull job centre. That i found strange because i have a job centre litterally 2min walk from me??? One question is could i ask for a transfer??? Also in between the time i filled in the form i have had a few people ask me to do their cars. What do i do??? can i still do them or should i ask at my interveiw? One more thing thats getting to me I have an appointment on the tuesday 25th (day after my interveiw on the 24th) when would my first sign on date be? I imagine it wouldint be the next day or is it 2 weeks?? im getting a bit stressed about it to be honest so if anyone could help or give advice that would be great
Thanks

Of course you can (and should) still do them. You are allowed to work while claiming JSA but you need to tell the Jobcentre when you do work.
I'm sure you will be given literature which explains what happens while you are claiming and what you have to do.0 -
Thanks anamenottaken
Makes me feel better
Anyone know how soon it is until i have to go again after my interveiw or my first sign on date Surley not the next day? Not sure how i would tell them about my appointment.
Thanks again0 -
Nobody can tell you that, its dependant on how they organise their signings, it could be the next day if you're unlucky but you won't know until you attend. Your signing date will be fixed and fortnightly, unless you're advised otherwise."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

When I went to the Job Centre in Leeds years ago, there were loads of Job Centres dotted around, and they worked on some stupid rule based on the first letter of your surname, regardless of which one was closest to you.Wanted a job, now have one. :beer:0
