  • I'll happily follow this thread, not sure if I'll be going yellow label hunting this week but always curious to see what other people buy for cheap. (inspiration etc)
  • Hi,

We are a family of four and realised that our food bills were going sky high. We've gone from doing a large weekly shop to a number of smaller shops and I tend to stop off at our local supermarkets on the way home from work to try and find bargains.

Its a bit mixed but I tend to get a few half price meat, salad and vegetable bargains 4/5 times. I arrived on yesterday just as the mark down chap was starting and I did feel a bit odd :embarassehanging around as he either further reduced existing products in the mark down section or picked produce from the shelves to mark down and place in the section... but hey ho I think I got some really good bargains!

We don't mind mixing up the menus as it keeps things interesting!:cool2:

We're trying to fill up the freezer with meat this week. Other weeks we plan to only buy essentials and if possible mark down fruit and veg. This week we have managed to find the following bargains:

Went to Mr T's yesterday and got four packs of ciabatta rolls (16) for a total of 40p...making a saving of £3.60!

So that's lunches for the kids sorted for the week, and scrummy rolls to go with my hubby's home-made chicken soup.

  • 2 X large bags of spinach from Mr T's - 2p down from £2
3 X bags of apples, on offer for 2 for £2.50 but I got for 4p each.

8 x packs of baby vegetables / exotic stir fry veg, should be £1.89 each, got for 20p each.

Not much for myself this week as I've been mainly coupon shopping.
Last night late (9pm) I did get from Sainsbury's:

    1 litre Tropicana was £2.59 - 10p
    Pack of 4 apples was £2 - 19p
    2 yellow peppers were 80p each for 10p each - 20p
    Should have been £6.19 - was 49p

Also got a pack of corn breads were £1.50 - 10p earlier in the week form Sainsbury's and 3 packs of naan breads from Asda @ 12p per pack.
The other "bargains" were the Sainsbury's were some of the BBQ frozen range reduced from £2.49 to 50p per pack (chinese belly pork etc).
