No7 Intelligent Colour Foundation

Options
Just been back to Boots to buy a foundation for my holiday, I have been matched before to cool ivory on this matching machine but I told the assistant that I am due to go away and asked for her advice as I don't know what the weather will be like, whether or not I will tan so I don't want to waste money on a foundation that may not be good if my skin tone changes.

Anyway she recommended the Intelligent Colour, she said it adapts to your skin tone whatever and you can wear the same one all the time. I must admit I have always bypassed this foundation before, she has given me a sample to try and if its OK
I shall go back and buy it tomorrow.

She also suggested the tinted moisturiser which I already have but she still said the Intelligent Colour will adapt to my skin better and as a foundation it will look more dressy for evenings too, an all rounder.

My point here is, why have Boots brought out this matching service when they have a standard foundation to adapt to your skin tone anyway, does this make it a money making thing?

If this foundation works then its bye bye Clinique which is double the price! However, I am still smitten with Clinique eyeliner and lippie so I may well stick to those but if I am saving on foundation then then hey why not :)

Good point, sounds like a money making thing.

It's covering (scuse the pun) all customers - those who would be "matched" at higher end product counters and those who just want one product.

I have a mineral powder that is suposed to suit all skin colours as it's translucent but I find the browner I am, the more any excess I haven't brushed over shows up.

Also, regarding your Clarins comments, my favourite foundation ever was by them and I was gutten when they stopped doing it. That, also, is a moneymaking thing, that you buy three more trying to find the right replacement. Logically, though, if they were onto a winner with a great product, why else would they stop it?

These "adapt to your skin tone" things don't work! Foundations can't detect your skin colour and change to match it.

I used to use the Intelligent Colour one a few years back and it doesn't adapt.
  • Thanks for your replies. I tried the sample and am not that keen to be honest, I prefer the foundation I was matched with really but what if my skin tone changes when I go away? Its OK having this match making machine but you can't always get the match right.

Wear a decent SPF and you won't tan. I spent 7 days in Rome in August and came back as pale as I went. :D

I wear fake tan occasionally so I have a foundation in the darkest shade I'll be when tanned so I can then mix it with my usual foundation when it's fading. I found the Intelligent Colour foundation ery greasy (and I have dry skin) but it they may have improved the formula since.
