Smyths on-shelf promise = free £7

Hi last night i went to get my daughter a Barbie Princess and the Popstar Tori doll (These are reduced from 23.99 to 11.99).
But they did not have any left I went home and went on the Smyths website and looked again and it said they were still in stock in my local store - Clough Rd Hull.
I printed of the on-shelf promise email and went back today knowing they were out of stock and got given £7 no problems.

I know this was at my local store but as these are such a bargain I am sure they will be out of stock everywhere, the other Barbie doll Kiera is showing as out of stock.

I dont find many glitches usually just find them from this site so go and fill your boots.

Never heard of this. For anyone else in the same boat, this is taken from their website: -
My item was not on the shelf in the store even though I had my On Shelf Promise?
If your item is not on the shelf, please contact a member of store staff who will be happy to help you. In the event we cannot locate your product, you are entitle to a £7 Gift Voucher. To redeem your voucher, you must present ‘On Shelf Promise’ print out at your chosen Smyths store.

As I understand it, this is basically after you have reserved items and then it turns out they don't have them. I guess £7 is reasonable for a wasted journed, to cover bus fares or petrol and car parking. Other stores could learn from this.
  • +1 to Shirley, great of them to cover costs if it turns out to be OOS.

Not something that's very fair to abuse though.

Well good news for those of us who actually wanted one! The Bristol Cribbs branch still had 2 on the shelf at 2pm :) Not so good for people who just wanted the £7!
