Red spots on bedlinen

Is this mould? I don't think it's blood as they are tiny fairly even spots down towards the leg and feet-end; it looks like little specks of rust. Stepdaughter says it is. I normally change the bedlinen every week but can't manage it at the moment for mobility reasons while I've been recovering from an operation. I'm guessing I should turn back or remove the duvet during the day to make sure enough air circulates? The bedroom window has been open for months so fresh air gets in, but maybe not to the mattress and memory-foam topper. Would it help if I ironed the bedlinen after washing it in case there are any ickies left?

If it's rust, could it be from a clothes line etc (I suppose pollen could also be a possibility)
I hope for your sake it's not bed bugs though, we had them once after a trip to the US and it was awful. We were finding spots of blood in the bed and were constantly itching from the bites.
If you think you've got them ring your council straight away, they should get rid of them for you for free. It's just about the only solution0 -
No, not rust, and I'm hoping it's not bed bugs. I'm going to change the bedlinen, completely air the room and see how it goes. In fact I'm going to dig out all the clean linen from the chest, rewash as hot as possible, dry thoroughly and iron. In the meantime, we will hoover the mattress and the memory-foam topper separately, and turn it. If it happens again, I'll call the council - thanks for the advice"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

It is best to find out ASAP as if it is bed bugs then it is best to get them irradicated immediately before they start breeding as I agree it is a nightmare to live with & you would need to get it sorted professionally
I am still battling with mine , but it didn't help that I have since been in contact with 2 people with a bed bug problem who didn't even tell me & I do everything to protect others from it but not everyone is that careful & some people couldn't care less about spreading them unfortunately!0 -
