Is this a redundancy situation?

Hello,
I was wondering if Sarl was still around at all?
To explain, I work 3 days a week for my employer as part of a flexible working arrangement. My child minder picks my two children up before I go to work, and then brings them back after I get home.
Unfortunately, my department is moving to Central London, which will interfere with my child minding arrangement, as I will need to leave earlier to go to work and will come home later. So my child minder will need to pick them up earlier and drop them later, which is not going to be easy for her to do as minds other children.
I will also have to pay an extra £70+ per month for travel fares, which I just can't afford to do on a take home of less than £1000 a month.
I do believe my contract says I can be asked to work anywhere within the London area...
Can someone please tell me if a requirement for me to go would be considered unreasonable due to the circumstances outlined? Could this be considered to be a redundancy situation instead if I explain my difficulties with the move?
I can't afford the extra travel costs, and the extra time involved for travelling will make things awkward for my childminder...
Please help!

If its written in your contract then id say you would have to do as you are asked or find another job.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

If you have a mobility clause they can use this (if the job is suitable)
Also without a mobility clause it is about 45 miles I think that is the benchmark or 90 mins travel.
My OH was informed that moving 200 miles was suitable - but they came to an alternative via discussion.
Best bet is to talk to them if you'd rather be made redundant as many employers are not unsympathetic to childcare.
It could be childcare needs give you an "out" but can't comment on that
How far away is the new location?0 -

At the moment I work in London, zone 4, so travel from 6 - 4, but the new location is in zone 1 which means I will need to travel from 6 - 1 which is why it is so much more expensive. I live in zone 6 and would never have elected to work in zone 1.0 -

Sadly she no longer posts here following some terrible treatment from a few predictable idiots.
She advises extensively on another forum (clue - Google SarEl and redundancy) although I gather she will be away late Sept and October.0 -

Oh dear, what a shame. Thanks for that I will try her..0 -
Apart from the travel increase and a bit of time can you not request flexable working as a parent? This may help if they allow it.0

I already have this in place and you are only allowed one request per year. Mine is not due to be renewed until March next year.
Quite honestly, there isn't any more I can do with my hours, as I only work 18 (wanted to work more not less!), and it's not worth me going out to work on a takehome of about £800, with the extra travel costs included.
Not to mention the longer travelling time, and the inconvenience to my childminder and children, who have to get up earlier, and possibly even get to bed later..0
