    Update!
LSC wrote back to me after I complained!
Apparently my house insurance (a requirement of my mortgage) is not 'allowable'

They say my allowance of 279.00 is for council tax, utility bills and food, this includes 'to cover the monthly costs incurred as a result of looking after your two children' .....so there we have it.....279.00 is the official figure for me and 2 kids .....maybe I should give up work and claim income support .......anybody know how much I would get?

    grrrrrrrrrrrr

    thanks Penny

are you saying that if I didnt work and claimed I would get 640 ish per month to live on? what am I missing? LSC say I need 270 for me and 2 kids?
Of course I have mortgage to consider.....that is why I work....but if it wasnt for that am I right in saying the basic amount the government give would be 600+ per month? that cant be right? I think I have misunderstood!

    confused now!

Being on income support myself, the figures I have given you are correct (actually slightly wrong, not looked at new amounts for this financial years as waiting for new amounts to go into bank account)
