  • I am in a family of three (me OH and baby of 10 months) and we stick to a pretty strict budget of £125 a month and its definitely doable most months, we have to make it work, we have no choice so £400 for two people sounds doable, definitely :)

    Best of luck OP!

beachie- well done on your bargains!! you do very well by the sounds of it! £65 till xmas though sounds tough and Id worry I wasnt getting the nutrition needed with such a low spend though! then again even if you make double that its good going so worth a try!
re: reductions, certainly look out for them when they are going and there are times it works out- otherwise its just not realistic to go at 8 or 9pm as for what we get in local stores its not that good anymore - youd have to really get the time right and also probably go daily which I dont have time for ...

If we made it £300 by xmas that would be fantastic but am including budget from beginning of sept so would be £100 p/m average for 2 of us which I dont think is too bad at all! its certainly the lowest we have managed and thats at a time with much more time to shop/bake from scratch etc..

    Can I join in?

There's me and the OH (very fussy eater..or so he thinks!) and we are on a small budget of £250ish until christmas. I have a decent store cupboard and some bits in the freezer, so I'm hoping that we can make it. We are spending christmas day at parents, but I put on a pot luck buffet on boxing day for about 40, so hoping that I can stretch again this year to keep it on budget. He will only eat branded products, but for the last 9 months, I've been putting value ones in the branded boxes :) He hasn't noticed yet.

Here's hoping we all come under budget and can get a nice glass of wine on Christmas eve!
