Friday 21st September - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:
Morning everyone. I love these quiet early mornings; up since six and done loads of housework whilst DH is still in bed. Why can't I be this eager on a work day?
DFW bits so far:
Okay, must get on with chores now. starnac - did you see the granola recipe yesterday?
Have a good day, stitchy x

Morning all. It's day two of my three day 'holiday':
I'm late arriving s'morning a fabby night at the theatre last night watching the Mousetrap on Tour. Total bill was £2.50 for tickets+ £1.50 for car park + £2 for munchies/drinks in the theatre bought at Tesco +£7 for two burger meals out (extravagance!)+ £2 petrol=£15. Pleased with that.
#The wee birds are back at our reinstated bird feeder including some babies. So far the blue tits, great tits and coal tits have visited. Great free entertainment; zero electricity. We just took a tupperware box and suspended it with string from the window and filled it with seeds.
#Today we're going for cheap fish and chips at BHS cafe. (See yesterday's post if you fancy doing likewise, veggie option available.) Looking around the shopping centre but no purchasing! Then wrap up warm and stroll along the nearby river Clyde for entertainment. Done.
#Chat to pals on Facebook. Done.
#Shower instead of bath. Done.
#Read paper online. Done.
#Would anyone use a £20 off glasses voucher? Valid only at Specsavers Glasgow 100 Sauchiehall Street or 187 Trongate Centre. Only for the £69 range or above. Purchase to be made in the next 3 months. It's not the cheapest way of buying specs but if you were planning on making such a purchase anyway I would post the voucher to you.
# Went to https://www.facebook.com/BaileysGB to try to win myself a bottle of Limited Edition Baileys Orange Truffle. Done.
#Gave my work shoes/boots some TLC. I can't afford another pair til Jan. Done.
#Check One Poll and Grass Roots. Done. Don't bother with One Poll survey LS U 1009 MS; it breaks down half way; waste of time.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Afternoon All - thanks for starting us off Stitchy - hope you enjoy your Stitchy day

Need to do some washing, will dry on airer
Print receipt for work expenses, submit claim - £25 coming back to me that I had forgotten about :j
Tea - from last nights planner as DH was late home and so I just had pasta and he had leftovers

Make list of few bits I need for baby - don't have loads to get as I have kept everything from DD. Want to be organised though and organise what I already have.
Think that's about all. have a good day everyone0 -
Hi everyone,
Happy Friday! I'm in a super-duper mood today as the neighbours from hell appeared to leave yesterday!! The caravan has gone, & 2 out of 3 cars have gone, as well as most of the "rubbish" dumped in their back garden...fingers crossed they don't return!! But at the very least, I managed to have a peaceful evening & a good night's sleep without ear plugs :j
Thanks for starting us off Stitchy.
Ally - Enjoy the rest of your very MSE holiday
Today's plan:-- Food from stores
- Make use of free water at work
- Stay in for most of my lunchbreak to avoid spending - only popped out to buy an oil filter for my car for only £5.09, I'm getting my Dad to show me how to change it tomorrow
- Log calories using free app
- Charge phone at work
- Check online banking
- Must try & do a survey or 2
- DH not drinking all month
- Must declutter a bit & do some flylady as there's lots in need of doing
- DH doing overtime this evening
- Dinner from meal plan - Vegetable Risotto
- Go to second job this evening, will drive in & not go out afterwards for drinks as I need to be up early to sort out the car ready for it's MOT soon!
- This is from yesterday but I didn't put it on my list, oops - I have signed up to the 1% at a time challenge to help keep me motivated! Can't wait to fill in that first box. We are looking to be debt free by the end of next year but hopefully sooner!

Perni - wow  fingers crossed for you x
catandy - nice one re the refund :money:
big hellos to everyone else!
I too am very happy and excited today fo a number of reasons - 1. today we went on a hot air balloon, it was fantastic! I thought I would be afraid but I wasn't at all.
2. We have agreed a completion date - 5th Oct!
3. Today we return to our own life after a week house sitting :j
Anyway those are the big things! Here's my littlies...
* I will check banking
* I will do a VSP and update sig/post on the thread
* breakfast and dinner from stores (opps had a maccy d breakfast)
* reconcile cc statement & work out budget
* picked some tomatoes to take with me
* relax and enjoy the day as I am off (am soooooo tired after a 4am start!)
* will call the hot air balloon peeps and ask if we can purchase 1 pic of flight - jpeg rather than the cd for a tenner
* called landlord, confirmed leaving date and agreed amount of rent owing. Though thinking about it it doesn't seem right so I will discuss further with her on Tues when she comes for the final inspection
* booked van for moving date
Alright that's enough for me. Think I will treat us to a bottle of wine tonight to celebrate and we're just about to take the dogs for a lovely walk for the last time :j Hope you're all happy & well xDF as at 30/12/16

Ahhh, thanks for noticing. I just sneaked in and put it on my signature without announcing it. But, you're dead right - just in time though. Intersting when I found out I was preg with my first we had just over £12k of debt, despite 9 months of MAT leave and paying for nursery fees since I returned to work, we have managed to clear it. Will be tough again being on MAT leave as as I am the main earner, but, we made some decisions on the way that sloweed down our DFD, but, mean we have reasonable savings to hopefully cover it. Plus my obsessive use of my 2 spreadsheets has helped massively :rotfl:Plus the small things thread has kept me on the straight and narrow :jGood news on the house front - very exciting for you :jCan't wait for updates0 -

Got £7.81 cash back for glasses, along with 2 pairs for £108 (including £45 for polarised sunglasses). Much better than the £354 V!sion express wanted for a similar pair
Done expenses
Will list baby things tonight and maybe one of 2 items on fleabay. Enjoy your evening everyone0 -
Shimmies into the room......... One and a half stone lighter!:j:j:j Yes I've managed it - 21lbs off. I'm so pleased! The sneaky mid week weigh in was correct and today's was exactly the same so its official!:T
Now all I have to do is decide whether to lose a little bit more or to try to maintain this weight.
Whatever happens, I'm having an evening off diets and exercise to celebrate, have already had a wodge of bombay mix!
Other little things....- Took this coming week's cash to spend out of the cashpoint (£30)
- Washing on
- Have given in and put the heating on but only for an hour to take the chill off the house and help dry the washing
- Walked dog locally
- Took packed lunch to work - have managed a full week of this
- Checked bank
- Got in touch with a friend I haven't seen for a while and have arranged a dog walk for next week - nice and cheap
- Will find something in the wardrobe to wear to a family do tomorrow and not buy something
- Staying in tonight
Well done to Jonno:beer:
Determined - the balloon ride sounds fab - congrats on the house date0
