There will be an end to this

Just been working out my payment plan for my debts, not a formal DMP, just how much I am paying etc and I at the rate I am going I will be unsecured debt free in 33 months. Now I know that 33 months is still a long time but for a long time I have felt that my debts were never gonna go away so It is good to have a finish point.

I am now going to officially set my debt free day as 28th June 2015!!!!

I will be 34 at this point. I always wanted to be debt free by 30 but hey ho.

I know how you feel. My debt free debt is 2017 and although it feels like I'll be in debt forever, it's not actually as far off as I first though. Yeah sure it's years away....but not decades away. Having an end date motivates you too...I've shaved a further 6 months off my life in debt (determined to keep paying extra to be debt free by 2015). :T
  • Thanks for reply digging.

I haven't factored in potential pay rises etc etc so I am also hoping to pay it off slightly earlier. I will be happy when it is under 20K!!! Being more than 20K in debt was psychologically a big issue for me!!
  • Yeah it's all in the mind...when I got down to 23k I paid an extra £5 off so it was £22,995! It sounds sooooo much less:rotfl:. It was only a fiver but it made me feel calmer about my debt. :T

I know the feeling! When I was a £3.80 away from being in the black, with hours to go before the rent came out, I was a whisker away from phoning my Mum and asking her if I could borrow a fiver for 24 hours, just so I could see those magic numbers with a "cr" suffix for the first time in a long time :D

In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work
