Think the second car should go.

How often does your OH go into town, a regular hourly bus service should be enough for her trips out. How often is she unable to catch it because it is full.
Can she not get a lift from friends, or take a taxi occasionally.

How long is the journey ?

140 quid a month plus running costs is too much.

Pay as you go mobile is a must as well.

Also have you looked at switching you mortgage....that is a huge repayment. only a small cut in the interest rate would make it worthwhile to switch.

What are the terms and outstanding balances on the loans.

Can you not look at the car again, sure you could find something suitable for work for £250 per month ??
