Working & Claiming Benefit

Hi.

Can anyone tell me please if you are allowed to work a certain number of hours a week without it being detrimental to Job Seekers Allowance or Mortgage Protection/Loan payments?

Thanks

  • I know you can work up to 16 hours without it affecting JSA sorry don't know about the mortgage/ loan thing.

  • I don't think this is right, is it? Anything above about £5 AFFECTS JSA, you just get less. Anything over 16 hours rules out JSA totally, IIRC.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

no, your getting confused, you can work 16 hours and still claim JSA BUT after the first £5 your benefits are reduced one pound for every pound earned.

I know how it works, just worded badly. I meant their claim would still be open they don't need to sign off if working up to 16hrs. ( do some people think you can work X hrs and still get all the JSA?!)
