Antiperspirant help

I don't have BO and often don't need deoderamt/antiperspirant but still prefer to wear it!

I used mitchum from late teens till a few years ago when i found somehow it didn't smell 'right' and in fact to my nose smelled worse than nothing.

Since then i have swapped about, i used a minerals one from the supermarket but hated the smell of that, I liked sanex but just last week found i find the smell of that acrid, like bad bo after its been on my skin. Today i tried a dove one, and i can smell 'underarm' so its obviously not doing the trick.

I have recently started takinga new drug and while this is not listed as a side effect wonder if its related? I really need to find a good unscneted or very neutral scented antiperspirant. I don't mind spending more if it works and doesn't smell weird.

I use Driclor which you can get in Boots and you put it on quite regularly at first and then reduce this after a couple of weeks.

It really does work for me - no sweating! I do still buy a cheap can of something on offer and squirt that on on a morning because I can't get away from doing that!! The Driclor costs about £6 I think and I've had mine since January with no sign of running out any time soon! I also only use a quick squirt of the spray I buy so not costly for that either.

The downside of the Driclor is it can make your skin very itchy when you apply it but it gets better over time and is worth it (IMO).

It still might be worth having a word with your GP to see if they can suggest anything first.
  • And the Driclor smells of salt and vinegar crisps when you apply it but this disappears as soon as it dries!

Have you tried the solid stick ones? Virtually the only ones you can get here are the Soft n Gentle ones (usually in Wilko's) - but I get some (much bigger) ones called 'Secret' in bulk if I visit the USA.

I found UK ones all started to smell odd - & I'm on loads of meds, never thought it could be that. Hmmmmm,

  • Have you tried Pitrok? I quite like that - I don't think it really smells of anything. It is a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant.

I haven't i know its considered less healthy, but i prefer antiperspirant. I like to be dry. And infact, i cannot complain about any of them on that front, i am as i am used to being, not wet under the arms.....just either they are not working or i am smelling very much worse.

I have btw, asked my husband to sniff me repeatedly and he says they smell 'ok' and not like BO but he can smell the antiperspirant quite stringly and it does smell a little 'chemical' on me. This took a lot of 'does my bum look big in this' stle demanding and repeated requests to smell again and crying. First repsonse was 'its fine':o

Harumph. My pharmasist has given me the wrong ones (i noticed it not them) and asked me the second time if i knew a brand name they could look them up by.

I like pharmacistsa lot, most seem really great and a valuable first line of this sort of enquiry, and indeed, when i go to get the nexty batch i will ask. Just in case. But i seem to live in an area where a dearth of average or above ability in many things exists!:)

I have however checked the paper work with the pills and on line, and have seen nothing mentioned.
