Employer got contract wrong.. can I hold them to it?

I have recently started a new job. I have signed the contract at a specified hourly rate and have submitted my timesheet according to this hourly rate. I have now been informed that the contract given was wrong (both myself and the employer have signed the contract) and I should be a lower hourly rate in line with my other colleagues and it will be corrected as it would not be fair. Apparently the 'correct' hourly rate was advised to me in the interview which I dont recall at all.
Can I hold my employer to the contracted hourly rate? They are a small business owner and dont want to make a huge fuss but at the same time.. I have bills to pay and it was the hourly rate I thought I was going to be earning!

Well, you can hold them to it .... but they can also let you go immediately without reason.

You might be able to negotiate a rate between the two if you state that legally they are obliged to pay you the higher rate.0

What was the advertised rate
What was in the offer letter?
Did the contract come with the offer?
Would you have accepted the job at the lower rate?
What made you think the rate on the contract was correct?
What is the going rate for the job?
Will they get someone at the lower rate if they let you go?
As has been said, negotiate and hope the don't change their mind and let you go.
As a small company how was the mistake made(was it deliberate) could be a sign they are devious or not organized.
I would be on the look out for the next thing that is not what you expect.
How do you know the rate they are saying is what the others are on, could try asking them0
