Help!

Hi all, and thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.

Long story short (or as short as possible) I have recently been made redundant. I have debts amounting to approx £25000, including a loan, a car (not on HP) a credit card and an overdraft.

I took PPI on one loan and credit card when I took it out, years ago, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare to get the insurance to cover what was sold as a "the safest option to protect you in the event you cannot work" and even if this claim is accepted the loan amount will be debited from my account at the start of the month and the insurance payment paid at the end of the month, thus no matter what I do I either default on my payments or accrue charges for unauthorised use of my overdraft. Neither the insurance department, personal loan department or my branch have been able to assist and I am perplexed as to what exactly I have ben paying for with my PPI and how to avoid spiraling into further debt.

I have spoken with CCCS and followed their advice as far as possible at present without jeapordising my PPI claim process and have managed to get a payment holiday for my car loan and stopped/reduced other direct debits to a minimum with the agreement that I will pay the additional interest etc if required once back in employment.

Add to this I am in early stages of pregnancy, I would therefore I don't think be entitled to any enhanced maternity pay from a new employer as I will have insufficient service and SSP/maternity allowance from the government would once again leave me unable to make payments.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...and apologies the "long story short" did not exactly go according to plan.

First of all, hello and welcome to MSE :)

If you could post a Statement of Affairs (SOA) which there's a link for at the top of the DFW board, then we'll be able to help you through things a lot more easily :)

Oh, and congrats on the pregnancy! When are you due?

my dad has cancelled his insurance with Lloyds TSB and requested his no claims bonus and has been told he has to pay pay them £325, basically the rest of the premium for the 4 months remaining. he has not had a claim so how can this be, what if he had just sold his car.:(

You start a new thread by going into the Forum you want to post on, click on the New Thread Box on the top left, then put in a title in the appropriate box, and then put your query.

Go over now and start your new thread. Don't try and hijack someone else's.
