    Hi All,

Thanks for your replies, I have got someone coming around to measure up and give me a quote on Wednesday.

I agree you can save a lot of money putting one in yourself however I don't have the skill or ability to do that ans as I'm on my own (husband currently in afghanistan - and bless him he's less help than me) I wouldn't even dream about trying! :o

I have quite a small kitchen and a victorian home, I don't want to put super modern into my house as I don't think it would be right, the kitchen is a typical Victorian extension and isn't massive so it's all about making the most of the space, plus there are 3 doors going into the room and a massive boiler so all in all it's not easiest space to work with. I want something simple and shaker in style very neutral with a belfast sink, fingers crossed that the quote comes in as managable. :o

Yes buy a kitchen but be savvy.
Don't go into a shed and see one and say 'I like that one, I'll have it'

Take a good month to plan exactly what you want from floor to ceiling, sockets to taps, walls to splashbacks.

You'll have to live with it a long time so make it the perfect room for you, if you see something you love don't hold back on paying the extra £50 here or there, it will be worth it!

    I am so jealous :D

Arrange for two or three kitchen planners to visit and design your kitchen then after they have provided the drawings/plan shop around. Wickes and B&Q will supply plans and a list of all you need with individual prices, don't be persuaded to sign during their visit as they will be very convincing.

Thanks Barneysmom I had some people round to measure up the kitchen last night and it seems I'm likely to be unable to afford what I really want - they have some great ideas and I will go in and see it next week but I think I'm going to put it on the back burner and save until I have what I want. The kitchen is a small space and because of this I was going for all integerated appliances (except fridge) and there are certain things like the dishwasher that I could drop and maybe add later to save some money but there are things like the whole room is tiled and the tiles woulkd need to come down and the walls replastered which isn't cheap - anyway I'll wait and see what they come up with and then start saving :)

I kow I could get something cheaper but I don't want to I've had a good look around and this is what I want so I'd rather save and wait until I can afford it!
