Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with Bright Oak DMC. I believe they're based in or around the Cardiff area.
I'm not thinking of using them myself, but am concerned that my work's union has issued a general email to all it's members in my workplace basically advertising & appearing to endorse this company as a means to helping people clear their debts.
I'm fully aware of all the free help that's available to individuals in financial difficulties, but I would like to be armed with any particular details of Bright Oak before I go barging through the Union door trying to get them to see their error in sending out this information.
Regards.

It doesn't matter if people have used them or not. Your union is advising people to use a debt management service that charges fees, thus reducing the amount of available money to pay the debts. Fee paying companies have no significant advantage over the free companies, and can be detrimental since creditors know that not all the possible monies are reaching them.
Go into the union office with details of CCCS and Payplan. Insist that they also be distrubted to everyone with a note stating that anyone wishing to consider a plan should talk to these people too, as they are centrally funded and do not charge people already in debt to help them.
Personally, I would ask the Union to explain why they appear to be endorsing a company and if they received payment for the distribution of the email? Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Thanks for replying, bargainbetty.
Yes, I shall be doing this. It made me quite annoyed when I received this rubbish.
One reason being, if there's any mistakes to be made when heavily in debt, then I've probably made them over the years. Another being, I personally know of at least one colleague who I believe is going to hit the financial buffers some time soon due to personal circumstances & I'd hate him to go through the same s##t that I did.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. I bet the Union is getting a kickback from any fees charged to members."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
