Afternoon all.
I had a debt with aqua card of around £470, this got passed onto BO&S which I managed to reduce to £235.73 paid over three installments. I came into a little money and made an initial payment of £155 leaving 2 of £40 and pence. Upon paying the next £40 I asked how this affected my balance, operator told me doesn't really affect your balance as I can see it has been cleared!? So I asked if there was any point paying this, and he said 'not really no' so I said if that's the case can I have it back? So a reversal was made. End of account.......or so I thought!
This was back in April btw, got a letter from Lowell who now claimed I owed £325, after a phone call with them the told me it was passed on from BO&S. Rang these back up asking what was going on, they said cos I never fulfilled my agreement they passed full amount on. I told them what happened with her colleague, she could see the reversal took place but couldn't understand why. I went through every detail and explained and even asked them to get the original phone all recording. Anyway to cut along story short, can't find the recording, no letters or calls were made to me to make me aware of remaining balance also because they done this I ended up with 2 defaults on my credit report which I have spent 2 years trying to improve! They are going to buy the debt back from Lowell and reduce the remaining £80 by half, and issue me a cheque for £50 compensation. Worth accepting the cheque or can I take it further?
Any thoughts?
