Advice Needed

Hello

My wife got herself into a silly situation with her mobile phone which has resulted in her paying off £100 a month to clear the account. However, the mobile phone company in question has placed a note on her credit report showing she is three months in arrears, despite agreeing to the arrangement and stating that it would not show on her credit file.

She also had problems with her bank who cancelled the direct debit twice to the company without any authorisation from her. Now her credit rating has plummeted and we are unable to obtain credit. We currently have a Cahoot flexible loan which is about to cost us £300 a month as we have to remove the balance and wanted to get a better deal which we are unable to do.

She has sent a letter to the mobile phone company and also asked for a notice of correction to be placed on her file.

Any other advice would be greatful as we can ill afford an extra £300 a month at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your problems! :(

Regarding your mobile phone and credit score problems, I'm sure someone else will come along and be able to answer your questions a bit better.

However, can I advice you to post up an SOA (Statement of Affairs) with your outgoings/income/debts and maybe we can have a look at it and save you a few pounds. This way, incase it all goes pear shaped with the mobile phone company, you will have saved some extra money to put towards the debt? You will find plenty of information on this forum about SOAs.

Good luck with it all :)

are you saying the only adverse thing on her credit file is that she is or was three months late with payments or what exactly?

    is the information actually correct?

is the debt now fully paid off?

how did the cancelled DDs affect her credit record?

Hi, thanks for the reply - the information is correct in that she did not pay the correct amount for that time, however she was paying £50 towards it for the last two months.

The debt will have been fully repaid as off 13th April.

In December and January the bank cancelled her direct debit without her knowledge until she received a phone call from the company saying she had not paid. She then reset up the DD with the company and was told no further action was required.

I will get around to posting an SOA when I have time, but I am a fireman and my wife a teacher so we are hardly in!
