Weekend away ? You could get a night in a decent hotel with dinner for £200.

Are they 'stuff' people or 'experiences' people?

Do they like joint gifts or one each?

Why don't you ask him for her, and her for him?

My DH would pick out great presents for me.

As I have a bad memory, we often buy our presents from aunty and give them to her to wrap up for Xmas. (Strictly according to her budget, of course). I've always forgotten what it's like by the time we get it.

I do like surprises but if it is a lot of money (which £100 each is to me), I would prefer to have a bit of a say in how it's spent, but I have children and no money so my circumstances aren't comparable.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Segways are excellent fun. Groupon have all sorts of offers so well worth a look there. Tea at The Ritz as not cheap but fab too

  • My Mum always buys myself and DH a joint present of something for the home which we wouldn't normally buy, we have a little chat beforehand and she either gets it or gives us the money....it means I have lovely things aorund the house that remind me of my Mum. Last year's was a Le Creuset pan, the year before a chandelier light above the dining table, previously she's bought a full-length mirror, and a Laura Ashley lamp for our bedroom. HTH
