one of lidls current special offers is a box of descaling tablets (8 tablets for 99pence). they work better than the usual sachet brands.

Distilled Malt Vinegar - the best (and most environmentally friendly) for descaling - quarter of a bottle (40 odd pence from tesco per bottle) and top up with water, boil, leave a few minutes, and hey presto your kettle is scale free ... but the kitchen stinks like a fish 'n chip shop ... works just as well in steam irons ... shower heads ...0
