American Apparel - No return item

Hello
I have purchased an item online from American Apparel. It has arrived and I am not happy with the quality of the product.
The web page states I am not able to return this item "All sales of this item are final. No returns or exchanges." I'd post a link but I haven't posted enough. If you google 'American Apparel Reversible Leather Belt' then it's that.
Is there anyway around this? I had seen the notification prior to ordering but was not overly concerned as I'm normally quite happy with American Apparel goods. If it was an item of underwear etc. I'd understand but seems a bit daft for a belt.
Cheers

What exactly is wrong with the quality of the belt? If it is broken/badly made you are legally entitled to a refund. If you are just being fussy and don't like how it looks on you learn a lesson from this and try things on before handing over any cash in the future.0

It's a bit lightweight and seems of poor build quality. I'd also suggest that the picture isn't entirely representative. I did think that it's probably £20 odd spent on a lesson in distance buying, even off reputable websites.0

There's a contact form HERE.
Might be worth making a complaint, you'll be no worse off and may get a satisfactory solution."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

I don't think they can refuse a refund as your consumer rights are covered by the distance selling regulations. Might be worth pointing it out to them, and if they don't allow you to return the item, give trading standards/consumer direct a call.

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

Ah yes, I now see what you mean.

That statement is breaking the law. They cannot say that under DSRs - you are fully within your rights to return the item and expect a full refund provided it has been within 7 days of receiving.
Taking a look round the website, it says the same "all sales are final" on several of their sale items. Definitely bang off an email as it is blatent flouting of UK law.
Let us know how you get on and if they buckle when you mention the distance selling regulations.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I presume it says all sales are final on that particular item because its so heavily reduced - they obviously need rid of the stock and don't want it back!
I did think though that by law they had to at least offer you an exchange and with distance selling you had additional rights.0 -
Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how I get on.0

They've got back with a very short email asking me to send the item back for a refund. Seems too easy...0

I've just seen this. The message is still there. Made me go read the DSR. Probably a hangover from their american site (as it is the same, and not sure of their regulations). Surely should be reprimanded for even having it on there for so long.0
