Bailiffs, council tax!

Hello
I am after some advice please?
I owe £243 council tax and it was passed onto a bailiff from when I had a serious accident.
They have been non stop recently and I don't answer the door, never have and they have never been inside my property. My bill now stands at 409. My mother is going to lend me the money to pay it of so she called to find out why it had gone up so high and he said for 4 visits. When my mum said she knew he was only allowed to charge for 2 he said that's rubbish!!
I took some advice from the debt helpline and they said to request his breakdown of fees. I emaile the company and they got back to me and said I'd need to deal with the bailiff direct. I told them I knew I was within my rights to request a written response and they said he has my 'file' so only he can deal with it and to call him (each email got a little more abrupt from them). I then told them I would be keeping everything in writing so if the bailiff had a company emil to forward it on otherwise they can call him, ask him and get back to me in writing.
The thing is I know they can access
My account. They have spoken to me before about it on the phone!
Where do I stand and what do I do if they still refuse to give me a breakdown?
Thankyou

Hi
Your mum is right.
I suggest that you go and find out when your local councillor next has a surgery. Go along and explain that the bailiff is trying to rob you of over £100.
If mum is prepared to help.
1. Pay the value of the liability order directly to the Council, on-line if possible.Which year is it?
Do nothing about the bauiliff until you have spoken to the coucillor. Put in writing your health problems and that the bailiff is only alowed to charge £42.50 for two visits BY LAW.
Then provide him/her with copies of the e-mail from the bailiffs refusing to provide the fee breakdown. Ask for the Council to take the debt back in-house.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
what council are you dealing with ?
what bailiff firm are you dealing with ?
Is the bailiff certificated ?
http://certificatedbailiffs.justice.gov.uk/CertificatedBailiffs/
they can visit as many times as they like however they must have a levy on YOUR goods to charge more that 2 visit fees to levy goods LEGALLY THE BAILIFF MUST LEAVE YOU A NOTICE OF SEIZURE OF GOODS AND INVENTORY LISTING THE GOODS LEVIED
as said pay the council the outstanding balance of the liability order and £42.50 bailiff fees
record the call and tell the bailiff what you have paid to the council tell him if he wants any more you will be happy to put it in front of a judge by way of detailed assessment or form 4 complaintI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites
If you are in any doubt please seek legal/expert advice help0
