This does depend on where you live, since in Scotland you'd need to get a solicitor to request your deeds for you.

You'd be looking for a DS1/END1 form to have the property transferred into your name, but this may have been taken care of for you if solicitors were involved.

Best idea: give them a buzz and find out what's been happening.

We are in Scotland. We recently (in February) redeemed a mortgage with the Halifax. They organised the discharge of the Standard Security and sent the title deeds etc directly to us, no solicitor was involved.

Well it happened! Why should we need a solicitor to request our title deeds anyway? It is our house, our mortgage, and we paid it off, we are quite capable of saying "please send us our title deeds", why should a solicitor need to be involved? Just does not seem sensible.
