Moving abroad but want closure

I am moving to the US to be with my wife in January. I currently have circa £10,000 of unsecured debt (credit cards, overdraft) and some outstanding mobile phone/broadband contracts.
I am not going to be in a position to settle this before I leave as I'm struggling to pay this as it stands, however I don't want to just leave it and hope for the best.
I'm currently working and renting a room but I will be moving without having a job lined up and will be supported by my wife until I get a job.
What are my options? Will I be able to set up a DMP and then only pay in when I have an income or would I be able to get a DRO before I leave, even though I technically have more than £50 of disposable income.
Essentially my situation is that I'm just about making ends meet in my current situation but come January I will be in another country with no income. What are my options? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
