I know, I haven't checked but it looks like the H&S are 3 for a tenner!:D
see above...it looks like they have (or slowly getting round to) fixing the 3 for £10 like they have with the rose wine!
Correction just looked on MSM and H&S are 3 for 2 at W's:cool:"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas" Benjamin Franklin

jumblejack wrote: »Hiya,
I don't have a recipe at all, just an easy method that works for me:
First things first, put a saucer or plate in the fridge, you will need it for testing the set of the jam later.....
1)Put fruit of choice in a pan (preferably foraged or whoopsied)
2)BARELY cover with water and stew til soft.
3)At this point you have to decide whether you want a jelly or jam.
If you want a jelly, you strain the fruit in a tea towel inside a colander over a pan overnight. You just use the juice .
(If you wanna be uber frugal, rescue the flesh for whamming into a blender with juice/yoghurt for a smoothie or add to a fruit pie filling)
If you want a jam, don't bother straining.
4)Then measure either juice for jelly or fruit and juice for jam.
5)For each pint you need a pound of sugar and a good glug of lemon juice (I use nearly half a bottle).
(If you have fresh lemons, all the better. Use the zest and juice.)
6)Boil rapidly until you reach setting point. Keep an eye on it and stir regularly.
7)Setting point is reached when you put a drop on the cold saucer and it forms a skin after a wee while (it will wrinkle when you push it with your nail).
8)Then put into hot sterile jars quickly and lid them. Leave undisturbed as they cool. They should form a vacuum as they cool and self seal.
I've now started using a water bath but this is not necessary for a beginner, especially if you are intending to gift or consume them within a few months.
Let us know how you go on

Could I just ask what dimensions the Robinsons should be in? Is it 1 litre or 2? Could one of you adorable lovelies tell me? I've had a look at the gorgeous HENLANS list, but it does not state the price of the bottle size.
Thanks again all, and loads of love x x
I bought 3 of the Strawberry and Cream 1 litre Robinsons today and they compared.

Purdita, sorry to hear that about your daughter, seems its quite common round our way. It wasn't the tanning salon fondly known as Costa Del C0ns0le locally as being a little rough around the edges?! Glad to hear she's never having a sun shower/sun bed again, I heard some crazy stat that one 10 min sunbed increases your chance of skin cancer by 50%!
