So i get this call last night

From my favourite company MBNA.I have been on a DMP with CCCS for the last 5 months, busy paying away my debt slowly but surely...Manager from MBNA calls[on my flat mates phone, have never given them that phone number,so how did they get it],saying basicaly that i must increase my monthly payment by 18.00 pounds .a month, otherwise they will default me and hand me over t o a debt collection agency[Where have i heard this all before].

I tell so called manager to please refer any dealings to CCCS.My advice from CCCS is to pay x amount a month, and thats it..Well the cheek of the man, says i shouldnt rely on what companies like CCCS say.

Then he offers me a final settlement of 4500.I laugh at him.He says can i borrow from friends or family....I said no......He basically then says, that he will ring me next wednesday and i must have a descion for him.......Well im going to tell him to take a running jump next week...Wil keep u all informed on progress......

Looks like someone is looking to make the Monthly bonus by offering you deals by phone. It annoys me that these companies still try and bully people when there is a DMP in place.

Just for kicks next time he calls tell him that you need to warn him that you are recording the conversation and could he clarify his name and his position in the bank. I very much doubt that he will say he's a manager and certainly wont want to be on tape using bulling tactics ;)

Good luck and keep us informed.

Data mining. Does your flatmate have anything to do with MBNA?

I believe asking that is against the guidelines that they are *supposed* to adhere to. Not supposed to encourage people into other debt.

Don't know. Depends on what their data protection registration says. It might say "To use your address to track down and contact other customers" or it might not. Contact the Information Commissioner's Office and ask them about it.

  • If they offered you a settlement figure they are getting ready to sell the debt on. They will sell it to a company such as Cabot Financial or Link Financial, they will accept your payments probably with no problem.

what a total bunch of to$$ers MBNA are. I've had another letter off them today saying that I HAVE to set a DD up with them or they will stop accepting reduced payments. Thing is I have a DMP with cccs so I pay them then then they pay my creditors so a DD isn't an option. Looks like the phone calls will be starting soon as it's the second letter I've had off them for one reason or another in the last few days.

    I have a cunning plan!
