How to spend £100

I have just been given £100 worth of vouchers as a bonus (for me to choose) from working very hard!

I am EXTREMELY tempted to get something fun but I need bringing back to earth, any suggestions on what to do with them?

I am moving house in november so I am thinking using them for something to do with that? I dont think I can quite face using my bonus vouchers on groceries! :)

  • I would use the vouchers to spend on groceries then take the ££ you would have spent out of the bank and put it straight against debt. I did this a few times on my DF journey - I like cold hard cash!

  • Use them to buy Christmas presents or give as presents to people you would normally buy for and throw the money allocated for Christmas to your debt

  • We recently received £100 of M&S vouchers for joining up with Sky. What we did was went and spent £20-£30 at a time just on meat - 1kg of individually wrapped chicken breasts for £10; 3 for £10 pick and mix on packs of chicken thighs/legs/mince etc. Topped it up with pasta and sauces bought elsewhere and as a result, this provided our main dinner food shopping for about 3 weeks on a budget of about £20. Result!

Well done london-lass nice to hear something good for a change.

I had a similar thing last year and at the time was really strapped for cash I put them on E Bay and sold them in about 10 mins flat, it was a life saver at the time.

Enjoy whatever you decide to do with them :-)

Your debt free date is not too far away anyway so if you have all that under control, I would say buy something beautiful for your new house, lamps, bedcovers, glassware or something. This was a reward for working hard, buy something that you will keep and remember you have it because of a job well done.

As long as we don't lose sight of debt busting, we are allowed to have a life beyond that.;)

Let us know what you do with it :)

Depends where they are for :-)
  • Having seen the list they gave me - I went for Westfield vouchers so I have more choice. I like the idea of getting some things for the move! (But of course I would say that because thats fun!) However, the idea of buying gifts and exchanging the cash towards debt is a really good idea as I will have to spend that money anyway. Thanks all! x

  • I would put them towards buying something that contributes to the new place's energy efficiency. That way you get to have fun buying something for the move and save on your energy bills in the long term.:D
  • I'd suggest using them for Christmas presents too, except for £25. Keep one quarter for yourself and spend it on whatever you damn well please, trivial, frivolous, silly, pointless or whatever you want. If you want to get something for your new home, that's fine too, but make sure it's something that is a treat - better quality bedlinen than you would usually get or suchlike.

You've earned a treat - your boss thinks so. Allow yourself to enjoy it a bit.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
