Hubby is thinking of going to the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum on Thursday this week but I was wondering how long does it usually take to go round the museum? Is there anything else we could do or see nearby as he is thinking of staying overnight in Belfast?

  • You can spend a good 4 to 5 hrs wandering round both the Transport Galleries and up round the various cottages etc that extend up quite a bit, don't forget to have a look at the Manor House, sits in nice grounds.
Not much else near by,although the walled garden at Bangor Castle is nice on a good day.

Will have the car with us so can travel and the hotel he is for booking is in Belfast so I am hoping that means late night shopping for me. Must check what time the Castlecourt is open to on Thursday night!
  • Castle Court is open until 9 pm on Thursday.
  • The museum is a good trip. :j
And Ikea is not too bad for spending some time in. lol
My kids love the food in it .

  • We were round both museums last week,it took near four hour's and had the child not started playing up it would have took a bit longer.
The new Titanic museum is also close by,you may have to book before you go.

The Ulster Folk & Transport museum was a lot better than I thought it would be. The cafe in the Folk museum had lovely home baked goodies which were really tasty. I actually would return to the Folk museum because we didn't get to see all of it although we did see most of it.

Thanks for all the responses, much appreciated.
