LRC Recoveries Problem

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help, my partner owes a previous employer (which I dispute but can not prove) over £300, and I am trying to arrange a payment plan with them, £10 per month. However as I handle the finances in this house hold I want to set up a direct debit and have requested forms to be sent out to my address twice and they never get them and they have never seem to contact me about the debt, I have also printed on of there form off the internet and sent it to them but they claim they never recieved it.
Should I re pay this or just leave it as it seems to be getting no where and I think as a debt company LRC are pretty poor and I just dont trust them. Whats the worst that can happen can they send baylifts ect to my home?
Many thanks

I would not advise paying by direct debit, they have control & can request anything. If you have their bank details set up a standing order yourself.
They can't send bailiffs in unless they have a court order & you default on it.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
Start by sending them the 'prove it' letter. Please dont blindly pay a debt when there is any doubt.
The rule is never to pay a debt collector by direct debit.0 -
Have contacted LRC when we first recived notice of the debt, and all they do is send an invoice from one of my partners previous employers (wakefield PCT), which states she was overpaid on her last wage. She finished working there over 3 years ago now, and we dont have any proof to show that she worked her notice at a reduced rate of pay, to cover this. Have requested the invoice 2 times as the first time LRC sent the wrong invoice. Have contacted wakefield PCT myself who dont have reccords of my partners final wage. To be honest getting rather annoyed with this and tempted to just say stuff it and not pay at all.0
