First job interview asking for passport and qualification certificates

that's a good sign right? I mean, I've had maybe half a dozen interviews so far and none asked for any paperwork lol

    It's either:
    a. A good sign, showing that they are interested.
    b. Neither good nor bad and they are asking it of all applicants.
    c. A bad sign because they haven't actually offered you the job.

    Hope it's "a" - good luck!

We ask all interviewees to bring these documents to interview where I work.
  • Lots of places do this now, solves problems and hold ups later on.

Its normal to want to see certificates at interview as well as proof that you are eligible to work in this country. In other words it means nothing.

  • I've been asked to bring them to every interview I've ever had I think - sometimes they ask to see them, some times they don't, and sometimes they even photocopy them.

    Seems common practice

Since when has it been compulsory to have a passport?:)

last two jobs I've had requested photocopies of passport to check eligibility to work in the country.
Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.
  • I work in recruitment and this is a standard practice. The passport will be to check you're eligible to work in the UK and the certificates will be to make sure you're telling the truth.
