Advice re earnings and IPA

Hi all, I would appreciate some advice

My DH currently has no income as he was on ESA that stopped due to the new Government rules and JSA was not accepted as they said he had not paid all his stamps (something we are looking into).

So I currently pay all the bills which means things are very tight.

If he goes BR there is no way he would get an IPA. If he suddenly does get a bit of an income either through a job or JSA is reviewed, would the OR accept that DH would then contribute to some of the bills or would they see that we have been coping with me just paying it all and therefore anything he earns would go towards IPA. It would be nice to know that if he does earn something my outgoings can be reduced as literally every penny I have is spent on essentials and bills.

thanks for your help

Yes if he starts earning then the OR would expect that he starts contributing to the household bills etc, They would only give him an IPA when he is at a point where he can pay his fair share and have a surplus left over

thank you. Just out of interest what would they expect him to pay - 50% of household bills?

In the absence of any other information they would split the bills 50:50 but say he started earning more than you then they would allow him to pay more of the bills just like you are paying more at the moment because you earn more
