in Cutting tax
Hello,
I finished maternity leave June 7th. I left the company at this time also. I had 3 months off. I now have a new job as of 2 weeks ago. £7 p/h.
On the 2nd of September I had a HM rev letter.
Page 1 says - Your tax code for 6/4/12 - 5/4/13. is 188T..
Page 2 said - Your NEW tax code for ^^ is 655L which replaces 843L.
So I get 843-188 = 655.
Can anyone explain what the 188 and T means and also why this is for? Will my new job change everything back to normal or should I need to ring them?
thanks

T after your tax code is used to show that the code needs reviewed.
It seems to be suggesting that your personal allowance is being split over 2 jobs. One will have the tax code of 188T and the other a tax code of 655L. Who does it say these tax codes will apply to as in employers?
What did you do with the P45 when you joined the new company? Did you give it to them? If no P45 did you complete a P46?0 -
thanks.

It should do once P45 has been sorted out.
However might be worth a phone call to HMRC to see if they can unsplit the allowance now.
Did you initially complete a P46 when you joined the new company?0
