I must start by saying that I'm not after sympathy, I just need guidance/help. I used to work for a main high street bank so I know how finances are supposed to work. I got married at a young age (foolish) & had a gorgeous 3 bed detached house. My husband never wanted for anything & before I knew it we were £37k in debt & he subsequently had an affair.I gave up trying to fight & sold the house & paid of my half of the debts, my now ex husband frittered his money & left not paying his half & stupidly because I knew how important it is to keep your credit file 'clean' I agreed to repay back his half of the debt. 5 years on I am in even more debt, have a CCJ with another one pending (thanks to a credit union!) in rented accommodation, behind on my main bills & forever borrowing from payday lenders. I know bankruptcy/IVA could be the answer but part of my work contract does not allow this, I am totally stuck, applying for evening& weekend jobs & penniless & really don't know what to do, please help!

Well, you might not be after sympathy but you're gonna get some from me anyway! What a nightmare. I'm afraid I can't offer much practical advice other than complete your SOA and the folks on here can identify where you can make some savings. And contact CCCS pronto - they'll know the ins and outs of your options given your job.0

What an absolute coward and sorry excuse for a man your ex husband is!!!
I know you're looking for advice and unfortunately, I don't have the answer to your question, but hope things get better for you and some luck comes your way soon

I don't have any answers apart from posting up your Statement of Affairs - in the sticky on the first page. At least that way, the regulars will be able to see what can be done to balance the books.
Just wanted to say you are in the right place here. Everybody is so friendly and full of great advice.
Keep posting and Good Luck.xx0 -
Here's the link to the SOA (Statement of Affairs), once filled out post here so that people can get a clearer view of your finances, and will then be able to comment with a better picture of your current situation:
