Selling old records

My Mum's having a clear out, part of which means that she's offloading all my Dad's old vinyl LPs. She's for putting them in the bin, but I'm sure there's got to be some value in them. Anyone know of somewhere that buys them either local or online?

I don't know about NI specifically but there is a huge demand for LP's in good condition at the moment here in Scotland with market stalls springing up for buying and selling and specialist shops posting 'wanted' ads in their windows for records by specific artists and bands.
Best if you have a good look round before doing anything rash.0 -
There's a guy upstairs in the fountain centre in Belfast (just out the back of the big Boots on Donegal Place) who sells old vinyl I think - why not ask him?
Also if there are any that look like they might really be worth something - Beatles, Stones, Dylan etc - you might want to do a quick search on ebay just to get some idea of possible value.0 -
eBay them. I recently bought some LP's, not for playing but for framing on our walls.
It may sound stupid but a quick call to Johnny Hero (105) who is always talking about records would be a good idea.0 -
I see vinyl records for sale at car boot sales, however not as much as I would have thought considering the millions produced and how many must be in attics all over the place.. The ones that you do see seem to be marked at £2 to £5 which seems a lot so might be worth a go trying to sell them.0

Don't bin them whatever you do,that would be sacrilege
What you should do is sort through them and check their condition.
Ideally the sleeves should not be marked, bent, torn ,etc and there should be no cracks or scratches on the actual records themselves.
I collect vinyl myself but only rock/metal.
There are loads of people out there who buy old vinyl,so check their value on eBay and then see about selling them there,or on gumtree.
What type of music is it?
The likes,of the Beatles,Stones,Queen,Hendrix,Elvis, etc are all quite collectible.
Would be interested if you had any rock or metal stuff:D0 -
Thanks for the ideas. Not rock/metal I'm afraid, it's more 70s stuff like Abba, Simon & Garfunkel, the Wombles! Will have to take the time to go through them all and explore what sort of prices Ebay are like.
Worst thing is, this is the easy bit....when I get stuck into the stamp collection it's gonna take years!0
