I want to buy some gold

ok. I've never had much money but we have some now and i'd like to invest it in gold. Where do i go to buy it?

To clarify i don't mean gold jewellery, but rather gold ingots (sp) maybe one a year? as an investment for my babies future. Can you buy them at any jewellers or do i have to go to somewhere specific? Has anyone else ever bought them online?

Wherever you buy, only pay the daily price of gold with a small premium (for the spread and their profit margin).
tbh coins are far more tradeable than ingots, and jewellers/pawn brokers (etc) probably have a wider stock of sizes specifically for trade.

It all depends what sort of ££ you expect to spend each time.
1/10oz coins currently around £130
